Program Regular Program This is a 16 weeks program, with 12 hours lecture, from Monday to Thursday, from 9:00 to 14:30 pm. The program begins at the beginning of a new semester, August and February, each year. It consists of seven levels. They are: limited, marginal, semenjana, middle, upper, advanced, and special. Special Program Special Program is provided in accordance with the request of participants. This program attempts to help foreign students who want to conduct a field research or work in Indonesia. In between Semester Program In Between Semester Programs lasts for 160 hours or eight weeks (2 months). This program is for participants with different Indonesian language competence and is held from July to August. Curriculum Objectives Indonesian Course for Foreigners Program aims to prepare participants to be able to speak Indonesian both orally and written. In addition, the participants are expected to understand Indonesia culture in general and Minangkabau culture in particular. General Instructional Objectives Beginner Level Beginner level is aimed to enable the participants to communicate both formally and informally. This level is focused in the variety of conversation. Intermediate Lelvel The Intermediate Level is aimed to prepare the participants to be able to use a variety of oral and written Indonesian. The participants are also prepared to understand the culture, the government system, and the society of Indonesia. Advanced Level Advanced level is intended to enable the participants to make discussion and write essays and reports in Indonesian. At this stage, students will be brought to the field to practice the langguage and observe some aspects of Minangkabau culture such as religion, tradition, and art.
